First Tree Planting for 2019!! – 1500 Trees – Sunday April 28, 3pm

YAY! Let’s Plant Trees!…We are aiming to plant 1,500 trees as part of our National Landcare Program Environment Small Grant.

Directions: Going south from Gordonvale – go through Fishery Falls and past McDonnell Creek School. When you go over McDonnell Creek slow down and indicate left. Turn left just after the 80 roadwork sign and STOP at the main rail line before proceeding. Park on the grassy area between the two rail lines. THEN with care walk back over the main rail line across the main highway to the tree planting site. I will be there until 3.30pm to direct volunteers.

These western side creek corridors that run from the foothills to the highway are an important extension of our recent restoration works on Figtree, McDonnell and Davidson Creeks and they all run into the Figtree Lagoon area of the Mulgrave River which are classified as Category B of Concern and Endangered Regional Ecosystems and Essential Habitat & Wetlands.

We will need lots of volunteers….bring sun smart gear, covered shoes, water and a shovel if you have one.

This project is supported by Treeforce and the Australian Government’s National Landcare Program.
